You
are invited to the Mid-Coast of Maine, where rolling fields greet
the beauty of rugged shorelines, never disappointing guests and
visitors. .And, so it has been when the Miles Memorial Hospital
League hosts one of the Region's most popular events....The annual
House & Garden Tour. In this, the 20th year, you'll be touring
the Greater Damariscotta Area where our many friends are waiting
to welcome you through their open doors and garden gates.
Visit a 1790's
cape owned by the same Nobleboro family since George Washington
was President, wander throughout riverfront gardens filled with
riotous color and inspecta 1937 Packard Phaeton with a 320 cubic
inch in-line eight cylinder engine.
The homes include historic capes that have been lovingly updated,
farm houses that date from the earliest area settlements featuring
Pumpkin pine floors, hand split wood lath & plaster walls,
to "newer" homes adapted for retirement lifestyles designed
with a woodworking shop, an artists studio, and for those who
truly desire all the "creature comforts" a custom kennel
fit for any Best in Show pup...actually, the resident Scottish
Border Terriers. In addition to the beautiful homes and creative
gardens traditionally featured, tour goers will also see truly
special antique automobiles at several of the homes.
The tour
is planned to be interactive on all levels: our Homeowners will
be on hand to answer all those questions: Who did your landscaping?
What color is that? We want to use local services…who do
we call? Add to the fun, members of the Old Bristol Garden Club
will be ready, willing, and able to trade gardening tips. And,
our car enthusiasts are all too happy to share their knowledge
and experiences with you. Mix, mingle, and plan to leave with
great ideas, new friends, and practical advice.
While
you enjoy your day and plan that next project, you will also be
contributing to the future of healthcare in our community. The
Tour is a significant fundraiser for the League that benefits
Miles Memorial Hospital and its satellites. In the last few years,
the League has contributed over $500,000.00 which has helped purchase
the new Digital mammography Machine; Blanket Warmers in the Emergency
Room; Healthcare Scholarships to local students' a bariatric lift;
and the Belknap Bed Fund.
Thank You
for supporting the Miles Memorial Hospital League's House &
Garden Tour... We look forward to welcoming you again this year!!! |
